In 1980, my cousin George and I started the Golden Gate Chinese restaurant in Fairmont, West Virginia. Not being a fan of the prepackaged hot mustard in many chinese restaurants, I created the Zesty Honey Mustard sauce to compliment our homemade egg rolls and fried wontons. Soon our customers were buying the mustard sauce by the pints to take home. I asked why they wanted such a large amount of the sauce, and they told me that it was good on everything. They used it on chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, rice, noodles, etc. It was always in the back of my mind since we closed the restaurant in 1990 to bottle the sauce for sale. In 2021, fresh into retirement, I am finally able to accomplish my dream of bringing Larry's Awesome Sauces to life!
